New Job…

Good news on the job front… On May 15th I’ll begin a 14-week Medical Transcription training class given by a local company that provides transcription services for emergency rooms throughout the country. There were about 35 people who applied, and they chose 8 - so I guess that I must have done something right!

I can’t say that I’ve always had dreams of going into the transcription field, but it’s really going to be a great situation for us right now. When the training is over, I’ll be able to work from home while making good money and getting medical benefits. This will eliminate some of our child care issues, and our issues with only having one car (after Christa starts working again).

I’m looking forward to it, although we’ll have to get through 3 months without any income… We already have some solutions for this worked out, though.

have you ever looked into ultrasound technology? out here they start at around $25/hour after a 2 year technical school. the school is rather expensive (around $20,000) but the rewards are well worth it and it's a growing field with lots of potential for growth.

the transcription thing is good too but i dont know what kind of growth is expected in that field. i only know a bit about the ultrasound thing because my son is just finishing his schooling in that.
:D

I was enrolled in school a while ago, planning on studying radiological technology - unfortunately there was quite a long waiting list, and we got pregnant (which changed our plans a bit). :) I'm still interested in that area, but I'm going to put it off for a while until we get a bit more settled.

There seems to be quite a demand in the transcription field at the moment, and it'll be good for the moment. We'll see what happens in the next year or two! :)
